2019 will be Roosevelt’s 49th year hosting Holiday Basket.  Holiday Basket provides a meal to 300 families in in the RHS community during winter break.  Families receive a “dinner” box that includes a turkey and 15-25 canned & boxed goods.  During the last week before winter break, RHS becomes festive as students and staff compete against each other in their Advisories to see who can bring in the most cash or canned goods.  On that Friday, the celebration ramps up as the community gathers together in the main gym to assemble the “holiday baskets”.   The baskets are then delivered that afternoon by RHS students. Over the past 49 years, the RHS community has come together to provide a meal to over 12,000 families.

The RHS community needs your help.  Last year, we were short of canned goods.  We are asking MFT members to help support Holiday Basket by donating canned goods and non-perishable food items.

There will be a collection box for RHS Holiday Basket at MFT.  You can also leave donated items at the following South Minneapolis locations:  Oxendale Market, St Mane’s, Mug & Brush, and Roosevelt.
