Stacey Gurian-Sherman

ESP Chapter At-Large

In 2017, my husband and I moved to Minneapolis to join our daughter, then a 5th year ESP, and now a MPS teacher. I followed her in becoming a Mpls Kids Child Care Assistant. Now, I’m also the Justice Page ESP Union Steward, and on the ESP Contract Negotiations Team. I spent 24 years in the DC-Baltimore area as an attorney, advocate, and activist working with people ensnared in the INjustice systems, starting youth job skills programs, and “partner-advocacy” for people to speak out for themselves. As a Union we have to practice the solidarity we preach. Whether we pay dues or not, each of us is a member of the Union since it serves as the exclusive bargaining agent for every ESP and teacher. We need to work towards 100% dues paying members by being more responsive, making it more welcoming to be involved, and increasing funding to bring in more diverse new leaders. This is all needed for us to get the fair contracts and working conditions we deserve, and in turn, keep delivering the quality education our students deserve.

Rebecca Miller

MRLF Chair

I have taught in Minneapolis for 26 years.  I have worked as an ECSE classroom teacher (Bryn Mawr), Autism teacher (Cityview) and Speech Language Clinician (Bethune and ECSE).  I have been active with MFT most of my career.  Currently, I am a building steward, a member of the legislative committee, the COPE treasurer, a member of the executive board, a delegate to the Minneapolis Regional Labor Federation (MRLF) and a member of their COPE committee.  I like traveling, cooking and keeping backyard chickens.
